The process of inquiry was a difficult one. I started out considering what I think I already knew. I really struggeld with focusing on something that I knew about already, just because that would've been easier. I knew that if I chose something like that, I wouldn't have gotten much out of the assingment. I had my own thoughts on inclusion, diversity, sexuality, and gender. I cannot remember how I came up with transitioning to focus on. I thought that that was something that I could use to think about the things that I already knew, or ideas I already had. I started out getting books from the library that were about transgender people specifically, but I quickly found out that that was too specific. I also gathered books on performativity and gender to give me a more broad view of things. These helped. A lot of what I wrote about was my own analysis of things I read. For example, I read a lot of huffington post articles that helped me in the essay. I also conducted a survery. You can find it here. The survey helped me take a step back from the project and consider what people were thinking about.
